history

Archaeological finds show an early settlement of the municipality. These include ceramic remains from the Neolithic Age as well as a grave from the Bell Beaker Culture found on the Blata in 1935 .

The first written mention of the village Gnevotin took place in 1078, when Duke Otto I the village together with other goods to that of his father I. Břetislav founded Benedictine monastery Hradisko gave. In 1141 Gnevotine was listed in the property register of the Olomouc bishop Heinrich Zdik as property of the Cathedral of St. Wenceslas. In the course of the state colonization by King Ottokar II. Přemysl , German settlers who called the village Nebotein came in the 13th century . Under Wenceslaus II , Nebotein became the property of the royal city of Olomouc in 1291 . In 1410 the place was called Nebetin , 1412 as Newetein , from 1414 as Hněvotín , from 1430 as Nebetein and from 1600 as Nebotein . During the Thirty Years War, the Swedes occupied the area from 1642 to 1650. After their departure, the city of Olomouc increased the compulsory labor to include extensive haulage services; The subjects of the Nebotein were obliged to carry wood from the Lower Jeseníky from the German home to Olomouc. There is evidence of a school since 1657. The oldest place seal dates from 1670; it shows St. Leonhard and bears the inscription SIGEL DES DORF NEBETEIN . In 1680 the whole village burned down. The registers have been kept on site since 1704. Other forms of the name were Nebotín (from 1720) and Nebotinium (1771). In 1757 the school house burned down. Further major fires broke out in 1783, 1820 and 1832; the church and the rectory were also destroyed. The nationalism that developed throughout Europe in the 19th century impaired the coexistence of Czechs and Germans in Nebotein. Until the middle of the 19th century, the village always remained subservient to Olomouc.

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Nebotín / Nebotein 1850 a municipality in the district administration Olomouc. The inhabitants of the village lived from agriculture, in the second half of the 19th century the cheese dairy gained importance, whose quargel was traded as far as Vienna and Trieste . Other important employers were the Sigmund pump works in Luttein, where mainly Czechs worked, and the limestone quarries. A new school building was built between 1871 and 1872. Since 1880, the Germans formed the majority of the population. Both groups of the population formed their own clubs. Since the school was taught exclusively in German and the German population refused to teach in the Czech Republic, an association was formed in 1897 to establish a Czech private school. He opened a Czech school on October 1, 1902, which was attended by 25 children. After the local council had ordered the closure of the Czech school eight days later, the school dispute finally occupied the Central School Committee ( Výbor Ústřední Matice školské ) in Prague. This approved the private school on the condition that three hours of lessons per week be offered in German as an option. The dispute was ultimately continued before the court in Vienna, which in 1904 confirmed the legality of the Czech school. In 1912 a Czech kindergarten was established. After the founding of Czechoslovakia, the conflicts between the two population groups intensified. In 1920 and 1921 the village was electrified. From 1921 the municipality belonged to the Okres Olomouc-venkov. The Czech private school was converted into a community school in 1924 and moved into a new building in 1929. In 1926 the Olomouc - Nebotein - Luttein - Latin bus line started operating . After the Munich Agreement, the German language island of Nebotein remained with the "remaining Czech Republic". After the German occupation , the Czech community school was moved to Tešetice and the Czech teachers were sent to concentration camps. After the end of the Second World War, the displacement of around 600 German-speaking residents from Hněvotín began. At the same time, the Czech primary school and kindergarten were reopened in the village. From 1949 the municipality belonged to the Okres Olomouc-okolí. With the closure of the Zelenka dairy on May 27, 1950, the tradition of curd cheese production in Hněvotín ended. Since 1961, Hněvotín has belonged to the Okres Olomouc .
