Lužice ( German : Luschitz ) is a rural village 3.5 km southwest of Šternberk in the Czech Republic . It is on the right side of the Sitka and belongs to the Okres Olomouc .
history
A first mention is known from the year 1131. In 1296 the parish was made to Sternberg. In 1409 the village came under the jurisdiction of Sternberg.
There was a volunteer fire brigade with a fire station in the center of the village and a gymnastics club founded in 1929. According to a 1930 census, Luschitz had 555 inhabitants (307 Germans, 248 Czechs).
After the Munich Agreement , the place was added to the German Empire and belonged to the district of Sternberg (Moravia) until 1945 .
In 1945 the district included 502.6 hectares of good arable land for all types of grain, sugar beet, poppy seeds, rape and alfalfa. These owned the Meierhof with around 100 hectares in the ownership of the Princes of Liechtenstein and 19 farms as well as several small farmers. There were also two restaurants with butcher shops, a blacksmith's shop, two mills, and two grocery stores. In 1945/46 the German population was expropriated and expelled. In 1948/49 the entire agricultural area was nationalized and incorporated into production cooperatives.
