history

The first written mention of Miroteyn was in 1365 as a property of the Vladiken von Dubčany . From 1406 the place was called Myrotyn and from 1437 Mirotín . The first evidence of the parish church was made in 1481 when Medvídek and Zbyněk von Dubčany held the church patronage. At that time, the parish reached as far as Hvozdečko. In 1535 the lords of Zástřizl bought the estate and joined it to the Haňovice dominion . The owners included u. a. Jan Proček von Zástřizl and from 1585 his son Bernard Prakšický von Zástřizl, an ardent Utraquist and supporter of the Brother Calvinism. He installed a non-Catholic pastor in Měrotín. After the Battle of White Mountain , his property was confiscated and in 1622 the Haňovice estate was transferred to the Olomouc Cathedral Chapter. The parish expired in 1625 and the place was parish off to Cholina . In 1656 a chaplaincy of the parish Loštice was established in Měrotín . Other forms of the name were Miročín (1492), Merotinki (1594), Meretinki (1596), Maretinke (1601), Marotinke , Marotzinka (1604), Merotinke (1606), Mierotin (1676), Mirotinka (from 1716), Mirotein , Mierotein ( from 1718), Mirotinka (1771) and Měrotín (from 1839). In June 1772 the Olomouc Metropolitan Chapter set up a parish again in Měrotín, the districts of which included the villages of Hradečná, Slavětín, Savín, Mladeč, Měník, Pateřín, Nová Ves, Kovářov and Střemeníčko. After a new parish church was established in Bílá Lhota as part of the Josephine reforms , Pateřín and Měník were assigned to their district in 1786. At the same time Nová Ves was assigned to the parish church of Chudobín, but the church tithe continued to flow to Měrotín. Until the middle of the 19th century, Měrotín was always part of the Olomouc capital.

After the abolition of patrimonial Měrotín / Mirotein formed from 1850 a municipality in the district administration Littau . In 1867 Střemeníčko was repared to Bouzov . From 1893 the village was called Měrotein in German . In 1913 the Skalka limestone quarry was added north of the village. In 1914, the Littau – Groß Senitz local railway took up the Litovel – Mladeč branch line, which connected the Lautscher limestone quarries to the railway network. After the dissolution of the Okres Litovel, the community came to the Okres Olomouc in 1961, at the same time Měrotín was incorporated into Mladeč . In 1990 Měrotín broke away and formed its own municipality again. The limestone quarry is now operated by the company Vápenka Vitoul sro, Mladeč.

Měrotín is a Catholic parish for Hradečná, Kovářov, Mladeč, Savín and Slavětín.
