The karst hill Třesín is located in the Moravian region of Olomouc , Czech Republic , five kilometers west of the city of Litovel . It is part of the Zábřežská vrchovina and the Litovelské Pomoraví Protected Landscape Area . Its top reaches a height of 345 mnm

Třesín consists of Devonian limestones . The inside of the hill is criss-crossed by caves named Mladečské jeskyně ( Mladeč Caves ) after the closest place . The caves are known for their large stalactite formations, but above all for the prehistoric evidence of settlement found there. As early as the 19th century, researchers found bones of the Cro-Magnon man , stone and bone tools, weapons and jewelry from the Aurignacian culture level, as well as animal bones from mammoths, cave bears, rhinos and other prey animals in them. The oldest human remains are dated to be more than 31,000 years old. Subsequent prehistoric cultural stages also knew the caves; they are said to have been inhabited until the Middle Ages.

At the beginning of the 19th century, the local landlords of Liechtenstein built a romantic landscape park on the Třesín. Only remnants of the ancient buildings are visible in the area. Much of the hill is under conservation. The National Natural Monument Třesín (1.18 hectares, protected since 1933) includes the publicly accessible caves, the Natural Monument Třesín (143 hectares, protected since 1993) includes the surface of the hill and the Natural Monument Geologické varhany (0.73 hectares, protected since 1981 ) includes an earth organ in a former quarry.
