history

The discovery of a bronze ax from the burial mound culture from around 600 BC. BC documents an early presence of people on the parish area. The extensive floodplain forests on the March were uninhabited sovereign territory in the early Middle Ages and served the dukes of Olomouc as a hunting ground.

Usque Wstrene was first mentioned in writing in 1249 in a document from King Wenceslas I. Other forms of name were Stren (1318), Wstrzenye (1390), Stržeň , Strzen , Strežen (from 1464), Shrine (from 1601), Strzenie (1676), Strženitz (from 1718), Schrainium (1771) and Strženie , Střeně (from 1798). The registers have been kept in Náklo since 1626 . In 1845 the railway from Olomouc to Prague was put into operation.

After the abolition of patrimonial Střeně / Schrein formed with the district Lhota nad Moravou / Ölhütten from 1850 a municipality in the district administration of Littau . The school was inaugurated in 1881. The current place name Střeň has been used since 1885. Lhota nad Moravou broke up in 1919 and formed its own community. After the Okres Litovel was abolished, Střeň was assigned to the Okres Olomouc in 1960 and incorporated into Náklo . Since 1993 Střeň has again formed its own municipality.

During the flood of July 8, 1997, Střeň was flooded by the March and the Benkovský potok. The water, which was one and a half meters high in places, damaged 31 houses so badly that they had to be demolished. Another 130 houses were long-term uninhabitable and 88 residents became homeless.
