Dubčany (German Dubtschan ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is six kilometers south of Litovel and belongs to the Okres Olomouc .
geography
Dubčany is located in the headwaters of the Dubčanský creek in the Upper Moravian Basin ( Hornomoravský úval ). The Cholinka flows north. The railway line Červenka - Prostějov runs west of the village, the Odrlice railway station is one kilometer to the southwest in an open field.
Neighboring towns are Haňovice , Nasobůrky, Olomoucké Předměstí, Chořelice and Rozvadovice in the north, Unčovice in the Northeast, Mezice and Náklo the east, Příkazy and Vojnice the southeast, Žižkov and Senice na Hané in the south, Senička and Odrlice in the southwest, Bílsko the west and Cholina and Myslechovice in the northwest.

Dubčany was laid out as a Slavic round, which was accessed through a gate in the north. On the northern side of the village square, a street settlement later developed, which was called Brána .
The first written mention of Dubczan was in 1342 as the seat of Vladiken Medvídek von Dubczan. The Dubczany Fortress has been documented since 1407 . Other forms of name were Dubčany (from 1412), Dubany (1490), Dubczian (from 1676), Tupschan (1692), Dubczanium , Dubtschan (from 1771) and Dubschan (1787). In 1464 Bareš von Čechovice and Dubčany bought the Vilémov manor and added it to Dubčany. Martin von Galčice, who had acquired Dubčany including Vilémov in 1481, sold the estate in the same year to Jan Plzák von Zdenín. The following owners were from 1489 Markwart von Zwole and from 1498 Hynek von Zwole. This separated the Vilémov estate again and sold it in 1536 to the brothers Jan, Jiří and Bernhard Zoubek von Zdětín . In 1546 Wenzel Haugwitz von Biskupitz sold the Dubčany manor to the city of Olomouc . The registers were kept in Cholina since 1614. In 1834, eight houses in the village had brick-built Hanavian porches ( žudry ). Dubčany remained an Olomouc council village until the middle of the 19th century.
After the abolition of patrimonial formed Dubčany / Dubtschan 1850 a municipality in the district administration Littau . In 1900 the village was called Dubčan . In 1914, the Littau – Groß Senitz local railway was put into operation. In 1960 Dubčany was incorporated into Cholina . After the dissolution of the Okres Litovel, the place came to the Okres Olomouc in 1961. In 1990 Dubčany broke away from Cholina and formed its own community. When the village pond was cleared, the foundation walls of the extinct fortress were found. The community has had a coat of arms and a banner since 2005.
