Bernhard Zoubek from Zdětín
Bernhard Zoubek von Zdětín (Czech: Bernard Zoubek ze Zdětína ; † March 11 or 12, 1541 in Kremsier ) was Bishop of Olomouc .
Life
Bernhard Zoubek von Zdětín came from a noble Moravian family. He first studied theology in Perugia , where he obtained a theological doctorate. He then studied canon law in Bologna from 1507–1511 , which he obtained with the academic degree of Dr. iur. utr. completed. After he was canon of Olomouc from 1511 , he became a scholastic there in 1525 and dean of the cathedral chapter in 1530 . He distinguished himself as a spirited preacher and became vicar general of the Olomouc bishop Stanislaus Thurzo around 1528 .
After the death of Bishop Thurzo in 1540 the cathedral chapter elected him as his successor. The papal confirmation of March 18, 1541, however, did not reach him, because he died a week earlier.
