Kaspar Karas of Rhomstein

Kaspar Karas von Rhomstein (* 1591 in Silesia ; † 1646 ) was administrator of the Diocese of Olomouc and titular bishop of Tiberias and auxiliary bishop in Olomouc.

Career

Kaspar Karas von Rhomstein studied 1615-1620 as an alumne of the Collegium Germanicum theology in Rome and acquired the academic degree of Dr. theol. In 1621 he became a canon , in 1624 a scholastic and cantor of the Wroclaw cathedral chapter . The Olomouc chapter appointed him canon in 1638 and provost of the cathedral in 1639. In addition, he was given the provost office of St. Peter in Brno .

Since the Olomouc bishop Leopold Wilhelm, Archduke of Austria had not received any priestly ordinations, Karas von Rhomstein was diocese administrator from 1638–1640 and 1643–1646 and from 1638 until his death vicar general and official of the bishop.

On December 3, 1640, he was appointed titular bishop of Tiberias and auxiliary bishop in Olomouc.
