Deschutes County is a county in the US state of Oregon in the United States with 115,367 inhabitants, compared to 141,382 in 2005. The county seat is Bend .

The county was founded on December 13, 1916 and named after the Deschutes River .

According to the 2000 census , the county had 115,367 people. There were 45,595 households and 31,962 families. The population density was 15 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 94.85% white, 0.19% African American, 0.83% Native American, 0.74% Asian, 0.07% residents from the Pacific island area and 1.36% from others ethnic groups; 1.96% were from two or more races. 3.73% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 45,595 households, 32.10% had children and young people under the age of 18 living with them. 58.00% were married couples living together, 8.50% were single mothers. 29.90% were not families. 22.00% are single households and 7.70% have someone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.50 and the average family size was 2.91 people.
For the entire county, the population was composed of 24.80% residents under 18 years of age, 7.80% between 18 and 24 years of age, 28.60% between 25 and 44 years of age, 25.70% between 45 and 64 years of age 13.10% were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 98.70 males, and for every 100 females aged 18 and over there were 97.00 males.
The median income for a household in the 41,847 USD , and the median income for a family was 48,403 USD. Males had a median income of $ 34,070 versus $ 25,069 for females. The per capita income was $ 21,767. 9.30% of the population and 6.30% of families are below the poverty line. 10.40% of them were under 18 years of age and 6.10% were 65 years of age or older.
