Clackamas County is a county in the state of Oregon in the United States . 338,391 people live here. The county seat is in Oregon City , but the city is not, contrary to what the name suggests, the capital of Oregon. It used to be in the 19th century. Today it is only a medium-sized town.

The county was incorporated on July 5, 1843.
There is a National Historic Landmark in the county , the Timberline Lodge . 87 buildings and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) (as of June 8, 2018).

The county had a population of 338,391 people as of the 2000 census . There were 128,201 households and 91,663 families. The population density was 70 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 91.27% white, 0.66% African American, 0.71% Native American, 2.45% Asian, 0.17% residents from the Pacific island area and 2.28% from others ethnic groups; 2.46% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 4.95% of the population.
Of the 128,201 households, 34.20% had children and adolescents under the age of 18 living with them. 58.60% were married couples living together, 9.00% were single mothers. 28.50% were not families. 22.00% were single households and 7.80% had someone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.62 and the average family size was 3.07.
In the county, the population was composed of 26.20% residents under 18, 8.00% between 18 and 24 years old, 28.70% between 25 and 44 years old, 26.00% between 45 and 64 years old and 11 , 10% were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 97.50 males, and for every 100 females aged 18 and over there were 94.90 males.
The median income for a household in the county is $ 52,080 , and the median income for a family is $ 60,791. Males had a median income of $ 43,462 versus $ 30,891 for females. The per capita income was $ 25,973. 6.60% of the population and 4.60% of families are below the poverty line. 7.60% of them were under 18 years of age and 5.10% were 65 years of age or older.
