Morrow County is a county in the state of Oregon in the United States of America with 11,173 inhabitants (as of 2010). The county seat is Heppner .

history

The county was incorporated on February 16, 1885. The designation goes back to Jackson L. Morrow , a member of the House of Representatives from Oregon .

Five buildings and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) (as of July 18, 2018).

According to the 2000 census , the county had 10,995 people. There were 3,776 households and 2,918 families. The population density was 2 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 76.27% white, 0.14% African American, 1.42% Native American, 0.42% Asian, 0.08% residents from the Pacific island area and 19.54% from others ethnic groups; 2.14% were from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 24.43% of the population.

Of the 3,776 households, 38.90% had children and adolescents under the age of 18 living with them. 62.60% were married couples living together, 8.80% were single mothers. 22.70% were not families. 18.10% are single households and 7.40% have someone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.90 and the average family size was 3.28 people.

For the county as a whole, the population was 30.80% below the age of 18, 8.90% between 18 and 24, 27.30% between 25 and 44, 22.40% between 45 and 64 10.60% were 65 years of age or over.
