Gilliam County is a county in the state of Oregon in the United States of America with 1871 inhabitants (2010). According to the number of inhabitants, Gilliam is 33rd out of 36th. The county seat is in Condon .

The county covers an area of 3,167 square kilometers; 49 square kilometers (1.53 percent) of this is water.
history
The county was formed on February 25, 1885 and named after Cornelius Gilliam . Gilliam was an officer in the Black Hawk War and the Second Seminole War and led a trek to Oregon in 1844.
Three buildings and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) (as of June 9, 2018).

As of the 2000 census , the county had 1,915 people. There were 819 households and 543 families. The population density was 1 person per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 96.76% white, 0.16% African American, 0.84% Native American, 0.16% Asian, 0.00% residents from the Pacific island area and 1.15% from others ethnic groups; 0.94% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 1.83% of the population.
Of the 819 households, 27.60% had children and young people under the age of 18 living with them. 57.90% were married couples living together, 5.90% were single mothers. 33.60% were not families. 29.50% were single households and 12.10% had someone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.31 and the average family size was 2.85.
For the entire county, the population was composed of 23.20% residents under 18 years of age, 5.40% between 18 and 24 years of age, 25.60% between 25 and 44 years of age, 26.70% between 45 and 64 years of age 19.10% were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 43 years. For every 100 females there were 102.20 males, and for every 100 females aged 18 and over there were 96.30 males.
The median income for a household in the county is $ 33,611 , and the median income for a family is $ 41,477. Males had a median income of $ 30,915 versus $ 20,852 for females. The per capita income was $ 17,659. 9.10% of the population and 6.70% of families are below the poverty line. 11.00% of them were under 18 years of age and 6.60% were 65 years of age or older.
