Polk County is a county in the state of Oregon in the United States with 62,380 inhabitants, 70,295 in 2005. The county seat is in Dallas . The county is named after the 11th President of the USA James K. Polk .

According to the 2000 census , the county had a population of 62,380. There were 23,058 households and 16,140 families. The population density was 32 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 89.19% white, 0.42% African American, 1.85% Native American, 1.09% Asian, 0.25% residents from the Pacific island area and 4.48% from others ethnic groups; 2.72% were from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 8.78% of the population.

Of the 23,058 households, 32.10% had children and young people under the age of 18 living with them. 57.10% were married couples living together, 9.20% were single mothers. 30.00% were not families. 22.30% are single households and 9.90% have someone living there who is 65 years of age or over. The average household size was 2.62 and the average family size was 3.07.

For the entire county, the population was composed of 25.40% of residents under 18 years of age, 11.70% between 18 and 24 years of age, 24.70% between 25 and 44 years of age, 23.40% between 45 and 64 years of age 14.80% were 65 years of age or over.
