Lane County is a county in the state of Oregon in the United States with 351,715 inhabitants (2010). The county seat is Eugene .

history

The county was founded on January 28, 1851 and named after the politician Joseph Lane .

The county has a National Historic Landmark , the Deady and Villard Halls, University of Oregon . 134 buildings and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) (as of July 14, 2018).

The county had a population of 322,959 as of the 2000 census . There were 130,453 households and 82,185 families. The population density was 27 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 90.64% white, 0.78% African American, 1.13% Native American, 2.00% Asian, 0.19% residents from the Pacific island area and 1.95% from others ethnic groups; 3.32% were from two or more races. 4.61% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Of the 130,453 households, 28.50% had children and young people under the age of 18 living with them. 48.90% were married couples living together, 10.00% were single mothers. 37.00% were not families. 26.60% are single households and 9.10% have someone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.42 and the average family size was 2.92 people.

For the entire county, the population was composed of 22.90% residents under 18 years of age, 12.00% between 18 and 24 years of age, 27.50% between 25 and 44 years of age, 24.40% between 45 and 64 years of age 13.30% were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 96.90 males, and for every 100 females aged 18 and over there were 94.70 males.

The median income for a household in the county is $ 36,942 , and the median income for a family is $ 45,111. Males had a median income of $ 34,358 versus $ 25,103 for females.
