Lincoln County is a county in the state of Oregon in the United States . 44,479 people live here. The county seat is Newport . The county is named after Abraham Lincoln .

As of the 2000 census , the county had 44,479 people. There were 19,296 households and 12,252 families. The population density was 18 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 90.59% white, 0.30% African American, 3.14% Native American, 0.93% Asian, 0.16% residents from the Pacific island area and 1.66% from others ethnic groups; 3.23% were from two or more races. 4.76% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 19,296 households, 24.40% had children and young people under the age of 18 living with them. 49.50% were married couples living together, 10.00% were single mothers. 36.50% were not families. 29.30% are single households and 12.70% have someone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.27 and the average family size was 2.75 people.
For the entire county, the population was composed of 21.40% of residents under 18 years of age, 6.50% between 18 and 24 years of age, 23.50% between 25 and 44 years of age, 29.00% between 45 and 64 years of age 19.50% were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 44 years. For every 100 females there were 94.00 males, for every 100 females aged 18 and over there were 90.10 males.
The median income for a household in the county is $ 32,769 , and the median income for a family is $ 39,403. Males had a median income of $ 32,407 versus $ 22,622 for females. The per capita income was $ 18,692. 13.90% of the population and 9.80% of families are below the poverty line. 19.50% of these were under 18 years of age and 7.20% were 65 years of age or older.
