After he was first used with the farm team Saint John Flames in the American Hockey League , the right- shooter completed his first NHL games for Calgary in the 1999/00 season . For the Flames, Clark was on the ice for five seasons, in his last season in Canada he even reached the Stanley Cup final with the team , which was lost three to four games against the Tampa Bay Lightning .
After the lockout season 2004/05 , which the American spent at SC Bern in the Swiss National League A and at the Storhamar Dragons in the Norwegian UPC leagues , Chris Clark switched to Washington Capitals on August 4, 2005 as a free agent . Nevertheless, the Capitals transferred their captain to the Columbus Blue Jackets on December 28, 2009 together with defender Milan Jurčina . In return, Jason Chimera moved to Washington.
After the 2010/11 season, the American did not get a new contract with the Blue Jackets. In September 2011 he tried his hand at the Boston Bruins training camp , where he also received no working paper. Finally, Clark moved to the Providence Bruins in the AHL in early November 2011 on a tryout basis .
