Kevin John Hatcher (born September 9, 1966 in Detroit , Michigan ) is a former American ice hockey player who played 1275 games for the Washington Capitals , Dallas Stars , Pittsburgh Penguins , New York Rangers between 1983 and 2001 and Carolina Hurricanes in the National Hockey League on the position of the defender has denied. Hatcher celebrated his greatest career success in the jersey of the national team of the United States by winning the World Cup of Hockey in 1996 . His younger brother Derian was also active in the NHL.

Career

Kevin Hatcher began his career in 1983 with the North Bay Centennials in the Ontario Hockey League and was active for the team for two years. Already there he stood out mainly due to his offensive strength and achieved 112 points in 125 games. Hatcher was selected in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft by the Washington Capitals in the first round in 17th position. In the 1984/85 season he ran in three NHL games for the Capitals and scored one goal.

Just a year later, the American became an important player on the team and qualified with the team again for the play-offs. In ten years with the Capitals, he and the team always qualified for the play-offs, but never got past the second round. In 1994 he left the capital city and went to the Dallas Stars . There, too, his successes remained modest, once he made it to the finals, where the first round ended again.

This was followed by further positions with the Pittsburgh Penguins , New York Rangers and Carolina Hurricanes . 2001 Hatcher ended his career after 1,275 NHL games. In 2010, like his brother Derian, he was inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame .
