The Providence Bruins are an American ice hockey club based in Providence , Rhode Island , that plays in the American Hockey League (AHL).
history
In 1992, the Maine Mariners from Portland , Maine , moved to Providence and became the Providence Bruins. The crew is closely associated with the Boston Bruins ( NHL ), whom they serve as the farm team . In 2005 they celebrated their 3000th game.
The Providence Bruins celebrated their greatest success in the 1998/99 season . After the impressive number of 56 wins and 120 points, they won the Calder Cup under Peter Laviolette , in his first season in the second-highest division .
