The Atlanta Gladiators are an American ice hockey team from Duluth , Georgia . The team has played in the ECHL since 2003 and has been cooperating with the Boston Bruins from the National Hockey League since summer 2015 .

history

The Mobile Mysticks were relocated from the East Coast Hockey League to Duluth, Georgia, in 2002 , where they resumed gaming in the ECHL for the 2003/04 season under the name Gwinnett Gladiators. In all of their first six seasons after the relocation, Gwinnett reached the playoffs for the Kelly Cup , with the franchise's greatest success being the finals in the 2005/06 season. After the team had completed the South Division first in the regular season, they bypassed the first round by a bye and beat the South Carolina Stingrays in the second playoff round , and then the Florida Everblades and Toledo Storm . It was not until the final that the Georgia team had to admit defeat to the Alaska Aces in the best-of-seven series with 1: 4 wins.

After the 2014/15 season, the name of the franchise was officially changed to "Atlanta Gladiators" to symbolize the proximity to the metropolitan area of Atlanta . In addition, new cooperation agreements were entered into with the Boston Bruins and the Providence Bruins .
