The Allen Americans are an American ice hockey franchise based in Allen , Texas . The team has played in the ECHL since the 2014/15 season , having previously participated in the Central Hockey League between 2009 and 2014 .

history

Those in charge of the Central Hockey League announced on April 15, 2009 that the city of Allen from Texas would receive an expansion franchise, which will take part in the game operations of the CHL from the 2009/10 season. On the same day, the owners of the franchise announced that they had agreed to a cooperation with the Dallas Stars from the National Hockey League and their farm team from the American Hockey League , the Texas Stars , after Dallas implemented its farm system following the 2008/09 season completely renewed. On April 27, 2009, the owners released the team's name, Allen Americans , as well as their logo and team colors.

In their inaugural season, the team reached the finals of the Ray Miron President's Cup , but lost in six games against Rapid City Rush . The first-time CHL championship win came in the 2012/13 season after the team had defeated the Denver Cutthroats , Missouri Mavericks and Wichita Thunder in the finals . In the 2013/14 season the team was able to defend his title.

On October 7, 2014, the Americans and the other six remaining CHL participants were inducted into the ECHL . Shortly afterwards, the Americans announced the cooperation with the San Jose Sharks from the NHL. They have been cooperating with the Minnesota Wild since the 2018/19 season .
