The Lubbock Cotton Kings were an American ice hockey team from Lubbock , Texas . The team played in the Central Hockey League from 2001 to 2007 .

history

The Lubbock Cotton Kings were founded in 1999 as a franchise of the Western Professional Hockey League . In this they failed in the 2000/01 season in the finals with 1: 4 wins at the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs . When the league was dissolved, the Cotton Kings joined the Central Hockey League with a few other teams . In the CHL Lubbock could no longer follow the successes from the WPHL and only reached the playoffs for the Miron Cup in the 2004/05 season . In these, the team lost 4-1 to the Amarillo Gorillas in the first round in the best-of-seven series . Following the 2006/07 season, the franchise was dissolved due to continued failure.
