The Huntsville Channel Cats were an American ice hockey team from Huntsville , Alabama . The team played in the Central Hockey League from 1996 to 2001 .
history
The Huntsville Channel Cats were founded in 1995 as a franchise of the Southern Hockey League , whose champions they won in the only season of their existence, the 1995/96 season. The team then moved to the Central Hockey League , in which they first won the Eastern Division in 1999, as well as in the following playoffs for the Miron Cup against Macon Whoopee , the Columbus Cottonmouths and finally in the finals with 4-2 wins against Oklahoma City Blazers .
In the 2000/01 season, the team appeared as the Huntsville Tornado in the CHL. For financial reasons, the owners withdrew the team from playing professional ice hockey for two years before taking part in the newly formed South East Hockey League in the 2003/04 season. When this was dissolved again after just one year, the owners finally dissolved the franchise.
