history
Fort Worth Fire was founded as a franchise of the Central Hockey League in 1992 , of which it was one of six founding members. In the first four years of its existence, the team was one of the weakest in the league when all teams were still playing in one group. After switching to two conferences in the 1996/97 season Fort Worth reached second in the Western Conference for the first and only time the playoffs for the championship of the CHL, the Miron Cup , which they claimed victories over the Tulsa Oilers and Wichita Thunder to in Finals beat the Memphis RiverKings in the best-of-seven series with 4: 3 wins. The team was unable to follow up on this success, so that the playoffs were missed two more times and the owners decided in 1999 to dissolve the franchise due to unsuccessfulness.
