The Fort Worth Brahmas were an American ice hockey franchise based in North Richland Hills , Texas . The team, founded in 1997, played in the Central Hockey League from the 2001/02 season before being reported as inactive for the 2013-14 season.

history

The Fort Worth Brahmas were founded in 1997 as a franchise of the Western Professional Hockey League , in which they played until their merger with the Central Hockey League following the 2000/01 season. Her greatest success in the WPHL was reaching the third playoff round in the 1998/99 season, in which they were defeated in the best-of-seven series by the San Angelo Outlaws 2: 4 wins. After switching to the CHL, the Brahmas reached the playoffs straight away, but were eliminated in the first round with 1: 3 wins against eventual champions Memphis RiverKings . Subsequently, the team failed to reach the playoffs and the team stopped playing for the 2006/07 season after they could not withdraw prematurely from their contract with the Fort Worth Convention Center.

In the summer of 2007, the franchise returned to the CHL under its current name, Texas Brahmas, and immediately reached the third play-off round, in which they were subject to the Colorado Eagles . The following year the Brahmas moved to the Southeast Division, which they won straight away. In the subsequent playoffs they managed to win the Ray Miron President's Cup for the first time after beating the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees , Odessa Jackalopes and last year's opponent Colorado Eagles . For the 2012/13 season, the team returned to the original name Fort Worth Brahmas .
