Jason Deitsch (born April 21, 1980 in Cincinnati , Ohio ) is a retired American ice hockey player ( striker ) and current coach .
Career
Deitsch began his career in the 1996/97 season with the Toledo Cherokee in the Central States Hockey League , before the striker spent the following season in the jersey of the Gaylord Grizzlies in the North American Hockey League , in which he was renamed Grand Rapids Bearcats played in the 1998–99 season.
For the 1999/00 season he then moved to league rivals Texas Tornado, where he was under contract the following season. In the years between 2001 and 2005 Deitsch played at St. Norbert College in the National Collegiate Athletic Association before moving to the Kalamazoo Wings in the United Hockey League during the 2004/05 season.
For the 2006/07 season Deitsch moved to the Cincinnati Cyclones in the ECHL and in the same year he also had some assignments with the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins in the American Hockey League . At the beginning of the 2007/08 season , Deitsch moved to Germany to the EHC Munich , which he had to leave again during the season due to family problems, after which he returned to his home club, the Cincinnati Cyclones.
From 2008 Deitsch was under contract with the Texas Brahmas in the Central Hockey League and was also used in the Houston Eros in the AHL in the 2008/09 season . For the 2011/12 season, the attacker moved within the Central Hockey League to the Allen Americans . He ended his active career in the summer of 2013.
Deitsch was considered a striker who had his strengths in the area in front of the goal, was strong on the face-off circle and played a tough style of play, which was also reflected in his penalty statistics.
After finishing his professional career, Deitsch started working as a trainer. He first took over as head coach of the Dallas Jr. Stars in the North American 3 Hockey League in the 2013-14 season, before heading a high school team in Allen , Texas in the same capacity from the 2015-16 season . For the 2017/18 season he returned to his ex-club Allen Americans, where he got the job as assistant coach and supported the renowned head coach Steve Martinson .
