The Cincinnati Cyclones (also Puckopolis ) are an American ice hockey franchise of the ECHL from Cincinnati , Ohio . The venue for the Cyclones is the Heritage Bank Center .

history

The club was founded in 1990 as a franchise of the East Coast Hockey League . Two years later, its owner at the time, Doug Kirchoffer, received the rights to a franchise for the International Hockey League , whereupon he used the IHL license for the Cyclones and relocated the ECHL license to Birmingham , Alabama , where the Birmingham from 1992 to 2001 Bulls lined up. After the Cincinnati Cyclones had missed the playoffs for the Turner Cup in the 1992/93 season , they achieved this every year until the IHL was dissolved in 2001, but never got beyond the third round.

The team then moved from Ohio to the East Coast Hockey League, where it was active for three years before ceasing to play in 2004 for financial reasons. After the founding of an AHL franchise in Cincinnati failed in 2006 , the Cyclones resumed playing in the ECHL and won the Kelly Cup for the first time in the 2007/08 season . In the final, they beat the Las Vegas Wranglers 4-2 in the best-of-seven series .

In August 2010, Jarrod Skalde was introduced as head coach of the Cincinnati Cyclones, Scott Fankhouser took over the position of assistant coach.
