The Los Angeles Ice Dogs were an American ice hockey franchise of the International Hockey League based in Los Angeles , California . The Ice Dogs' venue was the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena .

history

The franchise of the San Diego Gulls from the International Hockey League was relocated in 1995 after the end of their cooperation with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim from the National Hockey League to Los Angeles, California and renamed Los Angeles Ice Dogs. In their first and only season, the LA Ice Dogs reached in the 1995/96 season under the former NHL player John Van Boxmeer fifth and thus last place in the South Division, which they missed the playoffs for the Turner Cup . After just one year, the owners of the franchise decided to relocate it to Longs Beach , California , where it then took part in the IHL's gaming operations under the name Long Beach Ice Dogs .
