The Windsor Hettche Spitfires were a Canadian ice hockey franchise of the International Hockey League from Windsor , Ontario . The venue for the Hettche Spitfires was the Windsor Arena .

history

The Windsor Spitfires, which were founded in 1945 and thus were one of the four founding members of the IHL, were renamed Windsor Hettche Spitfires in 1947. The club took first place in the IHL in the 1947/48 season and was able to win 19 out of a total of 30 league games and lose another ten. Ultimately, the team reached the play-off final, which was lost. After another season in the International Hockey League, in which the Hettche Spitfires won the Turner Cup , the championship of the IHL, the club moved to Detroit in the summer of 1949 and was henceforth Detroit Hettche .
