The Johnstown Jets were an American ice hockey franchise of the International Hockey League based in Johnstown , Pennsylvania . The Jets' venue was the Cambria County War Memorial Arena .

history

The Johnstown Jets were founded in 1950 as a franchise of the Eastern Amateur Hockey League . The team won their championship title two times in a row in 1952 and 1953. After the league was dissolved, the Jets switched to the professional International Hockey League , in which they immediately reached the final of the Turner Cup in their first season , in which they beat the Cincinnati Mohawks 2: 4 in the best-of-seven series documents. Despite good placements, the franchise joined the newly founded league under the name Eastern Hockey League in 1955, in which they had already played before their IHL time. In the EHL they were able to become champions three times in a row in 1960, 1961 and 1962. After the dissolution of the EHL, the team from Pennsylvania received a starting place in their successor North American Hockey League , whose championship the Jets also won in the 1974/75 season after they could defeat the Broome Busters in the final . When the NAHL also ceased gaming operations in 1977, the franchise was dissolved.
