history

The Huntington Hornets from the International Hockey League were relocated from Huntington , West Virginia , to Louisville, Kentucky, and renamed the Louisville Rebels in 1957 . In their very first season, the Louisville Rebels reached the final of the Turner Cup , in which they defeated the Indianapolis Chiefs in the best-of-seven series with just 3: 4 wins. The following year they qualified again for the finals, winning the Turner Cup for the first and only time in their history by beating the Fort Wayne Comets 4-2. Despite sustained good performance and the renewed achievement of the playoffs, the franchise of the Louisville Rebels was dissolved after the 1959/60 season after only three years.
