The Troy Bruins were an American ice hockey franchise of the International Hockey League based in Troy , Ohio . The venue for the Bruins was the Hobart Arena .

history

The Troy Bruins were founded in 1951 and from then on played in the International Hockey League. The Bruins' first coach was Norm McAtee, who looked after the club until 1955. He could never reach the play-offs with the club and was replaced in 1955 by Nellie Podolski. He was able to reach the finals for the first time with his team in the 1958/59 season, where they were eliminated in the first round. In the summer of 1959 the club was dissolved.

In the 2008/09 season, the Dayton Bombers from the ECHL wore specially made Troy Bruins jerseys. These were worn in six games at the Hobart Arena. They were then auctioned off for a good cause.
