The St. Paul Saints were an American ice hockey franchise of the International Hockey League from Saint Paul , Minnesota . The venue for the Mercurys was the St. Paul Auditorium .

history

The St. Paul Saints were founded in 1959 and belonged to the International Hockey League. The club was able to win the Turner Cup , the championship of the IHL, in the first year . In the following 1960/61 season, the Saints managed to defend the title. While the team was able to reach the final again in 1961/62 and thus reached the play-off final three times in a row, the club could no longer qualify for the final round in its final year.

At the end of the 1962/63 season, the club was dissolved. One of the rivals of the St. Paul Saints were the Minneapolis Millers , who also played in the IHL between 1959 and 1963 .
