The Louisville Blades were an American ice hockey franchise of the International Hockey League based in Louisville , Kentucky . The venue for the Blades was Louisville Gardens .

history

The Louisville Blades was founded in 1948 as a franchise of the International Hockey League . Although the team reached first place in the South Division in their first season, they moved to the United States Hockey League before the 1948/49 season , in which they finished sixth, before the franchise was dissolved again after just two years . The Blades were the first IHL team from Louisville. Then the Louisville Shooting Stars (1953/54) and the Louisville Rebels (1957-1960) played in the city.
