history

The franchise was founded in 1928 as the American Hockey Association's expansion team . In the seasons 1928/29 and 1930/31 the team won the championship title of the AHA. The 1932/33 season began in Saint Paul , Minnesota , where they played under the name of St. Paul Greyhounds. For the second half of the season, however, the team returned to Tulsa and took the name Oilers again. The team began the 1933/34 season as Tulsa Indians and ended the season again as Tulsa Oilers. Up until the war-related dissolution of the AHA following the 1941/42 season , the Oilers played in the league. After three years of inactivity, the Oilers were reactivated when the successor league of the AHA, the United States Hockey League , was founded in 1945 . In this they played until their dissolution following the 1950/51 season , before the franchise was finally dissolved.
