history

The St. Louis Flyers was founded in 1928 as a franchise of the American Hockey Association , in which they were active for a total of 14 years until 1942. During this time, the team won the AHA playoffs five times (1934/35, 1935/36, 1937/38, 1938/39, 1940/41). After the franchise was inactive for two years, it resumed gaming in 1944 and joined the American Hockey League , in which it played for nine more years until 1953. The St. Louis Flyers, which was the first and only AHL franchise based out of St. Louis , reached the playoffs only twice during their time in the American Hockey League. In the seasons 1948/49 and 1949/50, however, they failed both times in the first round at the Providence Reds and the Indianapolis Capitals . In 1953, the franchise was finally dissolved for its 25th anniversary.
