The San Antonio Rampage were an American ice hockey franchise that played in the American Hockey League between 2002 and 2020 . They played at the AT&T Center in San Antonio , Texas .

history

The Rampage emerged from the San Antonio Iguanas , a team that played in the Central Hockey League from 1994 to 2002 . After the Iguanas no longer had an arena available due to a dispute with the San Antonio Spurs , the team was bought by the Spurs together with the Florida Panthers and renamed Rampage. From this point on, they also played in the AHL. So far, the Rampage have only reached the play-offs once , but where they were eliminated in the first round.

Initially the Rampage farm team were the Panthers ( NHL ), but became their partners after the takeover by the Phoenix Coyotes in 2005. In addition, the San Antonio Rampage worked with the Laredo Bucks CHL team and in the 2009/10 season with the Anaheim Ducks from the NHL .

Since the summer of 2015 they have been cooperating with the Colorado Avalanche from the NHL. With the start of the 2018/19 season, the St. Louis Blues were new NHL partners.

In February 2020, the Vegas Golden Knights announced they had bought the franchise from previous owner Spurs Sports & Entertainment . After approval by the league, the franchise was moved to Henderson , so that the team is based in Nevada like the Golden Knights . With the move, the franchise took on the name Henderson Silver Knights .
