After the merger of the International Hockey League with the Canadian-American Hockey League in 1936 to form the International-American Hockey League , Syracuse also joined this and was the first team ever to win the Calder Cup in its inaugural 1936/37 season after it was in the finals Philadelphia Ramblers beat 3-1 wins.

In the following season, the stars reached the final of the Calder Cup again, but this time lost with 1: 3 wins against the Providence Reds . In the 1938/39 season, the stars were eliminated in the first playoff round, while they missed the AIHL playoffs for the first time in the 1939/40 season.

Following that season, the franchise was acquired by businessman Louis M. Jacobs, who relocated it to Buffalo , New York , where it was active as Buffalo Bisons in the American Hockey League from 1940 to 1970 .
