The Rochester Cardinals were an American ice hockey team from Rochester , New York . The team played in the 1935/36 season in the International Hockey League .

The Rochester Cardinals franchise was founded in 1935 as a member of the International Hockey League . The Cardinals were Rochester's first professional ice hockey team. In the 1935/36 season, the team finished fourth and last place in the Eastern Division. Then the farm team of the New York Americans from the National Hockey League was ready again disbanded. Since 1956, the Rochester Americans, a team from the city, has played continuously in the American Hockey League .
