The New York Americans were a professional ice hockey team in the National Hockey League (NHL).
history
The team originally played in Quebec , Canada under the name Quebec Bulldogs , then moved to Hamilton , Canada and played there as the Hamilton Tigers . In 1925 the company moved to New York City , where the team was based as New York Americans until 1941.
In the 1941/42 season, the name Brooklyn Americans was adopted , although the team never played in Brooklyn . It was hoped to be able to differentiate themselves from the New York Rangers and to find supporters among the residents of Brooklyn. The plan failed and the team was disbanded in 1942.

Sweeney Schriner was the best rookie in 1935, he was denied another trophy because the best scorer had not yet been awarded the Art Ross Trophy . He twice led the league in scorer points.
