The Bridgeport Sound Tigers are an ice hockey team in the American Hockey League . They play in Bridgeport , Connecticut at the Webster Bank Arena (8,412 seats) and have been working with the New York Islanders since they were founded in 2001 .

history

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers in 2001 as the American Hockey League - the farm team of the New York Islanders established. In the first year of their existence, they celebrated their greatest success to date by winning their conference and reaching the Calder Cup final, in which, however, the team was defeated by the Chicago Wolves in five games. Head coach at that time was the former Islanders coach Steve Stirling . In the following years, however, the team never got past the second round of the playoffs and often did not qualify at all. The Canadian Brent Thompson has been head coach since 2014 .

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers mascot is an anthropomorphic blue tiger named Storm .
