Player career

Jeremy Colliton began his career as a hockey player with the Crowsnest Pass Timberwolves, for which he was active in the Alberta Junior Hockey League in the 2000/01 season . He then played for four years for the Prince Albert Raiders in Canada's top junior league Western Hockey League . During this period, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2003 in the second round as a total of 58th player by the New York Islanders . From 2005 to 2009 the center was regularly used for the New York Islanders in the National Hockey League , but played mostly for their farm team Bridgeport Sound Tigers in the American Hockey League . He spent the 2009/10 season at Rögle BK from the Swedish Elitserien . With the team he rose at the end of the season in the second-rate Allsvenskan , whereupon he returned to the New York Islanders for the 2010/11 season . By the end of the 2011/12 season he played again mainly for their AHL farm team in Bridgeport. Then Colliton ran only briefly for the Bentley Generals in an amateur league and for the Mora IK in the Allsvenskan, before he declared his active career over. In total, he had completed 57 NHL games for the Islanders.

International

For Canada , Colliton took part in the 2003 U18 World Junior Championships and the 2004 and 2005 U20 World Junior Championships . With his team he won the gold medal at the 2003 U18 World Cup and the 2005 U20 World Cup, and the silver medal at the 2004 U20 World Cup.

Coaching career

Colliton gained his first experience as head coach at Mora IK, where he was promptly hired as head coach after the end of his active career. He then looked after the team until the end of the 2016/17 season before he returned to North America and took over as head coach at the Rockford IceHogs in the AHL. In November 2018, he surprisingly succeeded Joel Quenneville with the Chicago Blackhawks , the NHL cooperation partner of the IceHogs. Colliton became the youngest incumbent head coach of the 31 NHL teams.
