Kirby Dach (born January 21, 2001 in St. Albert , Alberta ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Chicago Blackhawks in the National Hockey League since July 2019 and for their farm team, the Rockford IceHogs , in American Hockey League is used. The center was selected in third position by the Blackhawks in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft .

Career

In 2016, Dach was selected by the Saskatoon Blades from the Western Hockey League with the second right to vote in the WHL Bantam Draft . In the same year he made his WHL debut and scored ten points in 19 games. In the 2017/18 season , Dach played 52 games for the Blades, scoring seven goals and leading all rookies after 39 assists.

In 2019, Dach was named Assistant Captain of the Blades for the remainder of the season .

Dach was one of the top prospects in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft . There he was selected the Chicago Blackhawks in the first round with the third pick. On July 8, he signed a three-year entry - level deal with the Blackhawks. He began the 2019/20 season with the Rockford IceHogs , the farm team of the Blackhawks from the American Hockey League (AHL), before he was appointed to the Chicago squad a little later and in mid-October 2019 in the National Hockey League (NHL) debuted.

International

In 2018, Dach was appointed to Team Canada for the Hlinka Gretzky Cup , where he scored two goals and five assists in five tournament games. In the gold medal game against Sweden, Dach scored a goal in the first period and helped Team Canada to a 6-2 win.
