The 2018/19 WHL season was the 53rd season of the Western Hockey League . The regular season began on September 21, 2018 and ended on March 19, 2019 with the Prince Albert Raiders winning the Scotty Munro Memorial Trophy as the best point team . This was followed by the playoffs for the Ed Chynoweth Cup , which the Prince Albert Raiders also secured with a 4-3 win against the Vancouver Giants .
Changes
The number of games in the regular season was reduced from 72 to 68 per team, so that the WHL aligned with the OHL and LHJMQ.
