The 2000/01 WHL season was the 35th season of the Western Hockey League . The Red Deer Rebels won the Scotty Munro Memorial Trophy as the best points team in the preliminary round and also prevailed in the playoff final against the Portland Winter Hawks , which they secured their first President's Cup .
