Jeffrey Woywitka (born September 1, 1983 in Vermilion , Alberta ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who last played for the Augsburg Panthers in the DEL .

Career

Jeff Woywitka began his career as an ice hockey player with the Red Deer Rebels , for which he was active from 1999 to 2003 in the Canadian Junior League Western Hockey League and in 2001 first won the Ed Chynoweth Cup as WHL champion. Then won the final tournament for the championship of the Canadian Hockey League , the Memorial Cup . During this period, the defender was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2001 in the first round as a total of 27 players by the Philadelphia Flyers , who did not use him in the National Hockey League . After he began the 2003/04 season with their farm team from the American Hockey League , the Philadelphia Phantoms , he was on December 16, 2003 along with a first-round suffrage for 2004 and third-round suffrage for 2005 in exchange for Mike Comrie to the Edmonton Oilers surrendered. For Edmonton's AHL farm teams Toronto Roadrunners and Edmonton Road Runners , the left-shooter played exclusively in the following year and a half.

On August 2, 2005, Woywitka was transferred to the St. Louis Blues along with Eric Brewer and Doug Lynch in exchange for Chris Pronger . For St. Louis, the Canadian made his debut in the National Hockey League in the 2005/06 season . In his rookie year , he made two assists in 26 games. In the following three seasons he ran regularly for St. Louis in the NHL, where he played in parallel in the American Hockey League for their farm team, the Peoria Rivermen . On July 7, 2009, the former youth international signed a two-year contract with the Dallas Stars as a free agent . After the contract expired, he moved to the Montréal Canadiens . In 2011 he joined the New York Rangers and then played for Peoria Rivermen. In November 2013 he was signed by the Augsburg Panthers .

For Canada Woywitka took part in the U20 Junior World Championship in 2003 , where he finished second with his team.
