Douglas Lynch (born April 4, 1983 in North Vancouver , British Columbia ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who was last under contract with EC Red Bull Salzburg in the Austrian ice hockey league.
Career
Doug Lynch began his career as a hockey player in the Canadian Junior Western Hockey League , in which he was active from 1998 to 2003 for the Red Deer Rebels and Spokane Chiefs . With the Red Deer Rebels, the defender won the Ed Chynoweth Cup in the 2000/01 season and then the Memorial Cup , for which he and his team had qualified as WHL champions. In the subsequent NHL Entry Draft 2001 he was selected in the second round as the 43rd player of the Edmonton Oilers . In his time in the Oilers franchise , however, he only made two appearances in the National Hockey League in the 2003/04 season. The left-handed shooter spent the remaining second in their farm team , the Toronto Roadrunners , and then their successor team, the Edmonton Roadrunners , from the American Hockey League .
On August 2, 2005 Lynch was given to the St. Louis Blues together with Eric Brewer and Jeff Woywitka in exchange for Chris Pronger . After he was on the ice in the following two seasons only for their farm teams, the Peoria Rivermen from the AHL and the Alaska Aces from the ECHL , he signed a contract with EC Red Bull Salzburg from the Austrian ice hockey team for the 2007/08 season League , with which he immediately won the national championship . After a season with their league rivals Vienna Capitals , the Canadian returned to Salzburg for the 2009/10 season.
