Jared Aulin (born March 15, 1982 in Calgary , Alberta ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who was last under contract with the Straubing Tigers from the German Ice Hockey League .
Career
After Aulin had already played ice hockey for a few years in his home country, the then 16-year-old started his career with the Kamloops Blazers from the Western Hockey League . There he was able to attract the attention of the Colorado Avalanche from the National Hockey League , which selected him in the second round of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft in 47th position. In the following season, the young Aulin was able to achieve 108 points scorer in 70 games for the Kamloops Blazers. Also in March 2001 his rights were transferred from the Colorado Avalanche to the Los Angeles Kings . This completed a transfer from the previous month, when Rob Blake and Steven Reinprecht moved from Los Angeles to Denver.
At the U20 Junior World Cup in 2002, the right-handed shooter scored nine points in seven games and won the silver medal with the Canadian team . On June 1, 2002, Aulin signed a three-year entry - level contract with the Los Angeles Kings, where he was mainly on the ice for their farm team , the Manchester Monarchs , from the American Hockey League . During the 2002/03 season, however, he also made his debut in the National Hockey League, where he was able to score two goals.
In preparation for the 2003/04 season, the Canadian suffered a shoulder injury. After the striker remained injured for most of the season, he was traded for Anson Carter at the Washington Capitals in March 2004 . Upon his return, the Canadian played for the Portland Pirates and the Hershey Bears , the Capitals' farm teams at the time. Despite winning the Calder Cup with Hershey in 2006, his contract with the Capitals was not renewed, which is why Aulin signed for the 2006/07 season with the Springfield Falcons , where he was only able to complete 13 games because his shoulder injury caused him again problems. In the summer of 2007, Aulin played in his hometown of Calgary in a so-called "Non-Contact" league, in which he topped the scoring list. After a stick hit on the neck, Aulin was initially unconscious and had to be treated in the hospital. Due to the injury suffered, the Canadian considered ending his career. However, towards the end of the 2007-08 season, he played for the University of Calgary , making it the first former NHL player on a university team in 20 years.
After the right-handed shooter had healed his shoulder further and had completely suspended the 2008/09 season, he was invited by the Columbus Blue Jackets to the training camp for the 2009/10 season. He started the season with the Blue Jackets farm team, the Syracuse Crunch , where he initially received a trial contract, which was converted into a full-fledged employment relationship as the season progressed. For the 2010/11 season, the Canadian was invited to the Edmonton Oilers training camp , but was unable to convince them.
In October 2010, Aulin left North America for the first time and moved to Europe for the Swedish second division team Leksands IF . In June 2011, the striker signed a one-year contract with Örebro HK from HockeyAllsvenskan . Aulin played for the team from Örebro for a total of four years and made it to the Svenska Hockeyligan in the spring of 2013 . As the top scorer of the entire Allsvenskan, the striker played a decisive role.
After five seasons in Sweden, the Canadian signed a contract on June 23, 2015 with the Swiss ice hockey club SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers from the National League B , the second highest league in Switzerland. In 2018, Jared Aulin and his team from Rapperswil-Jona managed to win the Swiss Cup and the championship in the second division and thus promotion to the National League . After the striker had started the 2018/19 season with the team at Lake Zurich, the Canadian's move to the German Ice Hockey League to the Straubing Tigers was announced on December 28, 2018 .
