The 2017/18 season was the 71st regular staging of the Swiss League , the second division in Swiss ice hockey . The season includes 46 qualifying rounds. It is the first season since the National League B was renamed the Swiss League.

With the exception of HC Red Ice , which was declared bankrupt due to indebtedness, the same teams will compete as in the 2016/17 season .

The SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers competed as SL champions against the last of the National League , the EHC Kloten , in the league qualification . The Lakers won this series 4: 3, which is why they were promoted to the National League.
