history

In 1982 the team rose to the National League B for the first time . After relegation in 1984, they returned in the following season 1984/85. In the spring of 1988, under coach Richard Beaulieu, the leap into the National League A succeeded , in 1990 the relegation had to be accepted. Coach Richmond Gosselin led the HCA back to the top division as champions of the NLB in 1992, but the league was missed, it went back down to the NLB in 1993. In 1995 the relegation from the NLB had to be noted. The coaching duo of Doug McKay / Hans Kossmann led the team to direct promotion in 1995/96, but they did not hold out and thus played again in the third class first division from 1997 onwards .

In 2000, coach Merlin Malinowski led the HCA back to the NLB, and under his aegis they reached the playoffs in the following years, and in 2002 they advanced to the semi-finals. In 2008 and 2009 the Jurassians again participated in the NLB semi-finals under the leadership of trainers Dany Gélinas and Réal Paiement, respectively . That also succeeded in the 2012/13 season, when Jan Tlacil was coach.

In the 2015/16 season , the team from the Jura won the NLB championship, coached by Gary Sheehan . In the final against the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers, HC Ajoie prevailed with 4-2 victories, but declared that they would not participate in the league qualification for the NLA: President Patrick Hauert stated that in the event of promotion, the budget would have to be tripled, what would have been impossible.

In 2017 HC Ajoie advanced to the semi-finals and lost the series against SC Langenthal with 1: 4. In 2018, the HCA also had to admit defeat to the SCRJ Lakers in the semifinals with 2: 4 wins. In 2019 they played again at the front, but surprisingly failed in the first playoff round with 3: 4 against HC Thurgau. In the 2019/20 season, the cup win was the greatest success in history. In an incredible campaign, the National League clubs from Lausanne, Zurich, Biel and Davos were beaten one after the other. In the final, in front of 9,284 spectators in the Lausanne Vaudoise Arena, they beat HC Davos 7: 3 thanks to a strong power play.
