Nicolas Thibaudeau (born September 5, 1990 in Bois-des-Fillion , Québec ) is a Canadian ice hockey player with a Swiss license. He can be used in the positions of center forward and winger and has been under contract with EHC Visp since 2016 .

Player career

Thibaudeau spent parts of his childhood and youth in Switzerland, where his father Gilles played as a professional, and therefore has a Swiss gaming license. At the age of two he got on ice skates for the first time in Davos and began his ice hockey career in the youth department of SC Rapperswil-Jona . The family returned to Canada when he was ten years old. In his native Québec, Thibaudeau ran in the junior league QJAAAHL for the Cobras de Terrebonne and the Montagnards de Sainte-Agathe.

After a trial session in the summer of 2010, he signed his first professional contract with the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers and made 46 appearances in the Swiss National League A (NLA) in his debut season . After five years in Rapperswil and relegation from the NLA, he signed a contract for the 2015/16 season with EV Zug in April 2015 . Before the 2016/17 season he moved to EHC Visp in the National League B (NLB) and was bound there with a two-year contract.

Personal

His father Gilles Thibaudeau played in the late 1980s and early 1990s for the Canadiens de Montréal , the Toronto Maple Leafs and the New York Islanders in the National Hockey League (NHL) and then in Switzerland.
